Questa explores workforce housing, hotel development

The Village of Questa is considering a proposed mixed-use development at the Questa Business Park that could bring new housing, commercial activity and a possible hotel to the village. The potentially transformative project would be in partnership with an entrepreneur whose business model centers on sustainable infrastructure and reasonable long-term operating costs.

Questa officials held a work-study meeting Dec. 10 to discuss the early-stage proposal with entrepreneur Omar Fayed to build about 60 dwellings and, in the future, a hotel at the business park. Multiple organizations are involved, including the New Mexico Economic Development Department and Kit Carson Electric Co-op, whose solar energy production, battery storage and grid resilience-building projects have placed it at the vanguard of green energy utility development.
